Dark Winter Songs - Episode 11: Classical music
Bentornati al nostro appuntamento con gli smalti e con la musica: Dark Winter Songs!
Oramai l'inverno volge al termine: questa infatti è l'ultima puntata ed è dedicata al genere più antico e longevo, ovvero la musica classica.
Ammetto di non essere grande frutrice di questo tipo di musica e trovandomi a dover scegliere un compositore mi sono trovata un pò in difficoltà non avendone uno preferito. Ho deciso quindi di dedicare l'ultima puntata ad uno degli strumenti che secondo me più rappresentano questo genere: il pianoforte.

The winter comes to its end... this is the last episode and it is dedicated to the most ancient and long-lived genre: the classical music.
I admit that I am not a big consumer of this type of music so I decided to dedicate the latest post to one of the musical instruments that I associate to this music: the piano.
Come potete notare per una volta ho lasciato da parte i colori acrilici per dedicarmi un pò allo stamping.

As you can see I decided to use stamping technique instead of acrylic painting.

Lo smalto che vi presento è il nero della Mo You Nails. Ero convinta che questo brand fosse il distributore italiano della Mo You London e invece venerdì al Cosmoprof ho avuto modo di scambiare due chiacchiere con Matteo, il titolare dell'azienda, una persona davvero gentile che mi ha chiarito decisamente le idee.
The nail polish that I present is by Mo You Nails. I was convinced that this brand was the Italian distributor of Mo You London, but on Friday I was at Cosmoprof and I had the opportunity to talk with Matteo (the owner of the company), a very kind person who helped me to understand how the things work.
Oltre allo smalto mi ha omaggiata di questo stamper trasparente... ero davvero ansiosa di provarlo e l'occasione di oggi era perfetta!
In addition to the nail polish he asked me to try this transparent stamper ... I can't wait to try it and the occasion of today was perfect!
Come potete vedere l'immagine è dritta e ben centrata ( questo è tutto merito dello stamper trasparente). Lo smalto si trasferisce bene ed ha il giusto grado di densità; nel processo ho fatto un errore però: invece dello scraper 'di serie' ho usato una carta di plastica, come faccio di solito. Questo ha leggermente compromesso il risultato... usando invece lo scraper Mo You Nails è andata decisamente meglio.
Avrò modo comunque di riparlarne più nel dettaglio in seguito.

As you can see the image is straight and well-centered (that is all about the transparent stamper). The nail polish works well and has the right density; but in the process I made a mistake: instead of the standard scraper I used a plastic card, as I usually do. This has slightly affected the result ... using the Mo You Nails scraper it went much better. However I will have to talk more about this in detail hereinafter.

Dark Winter Songs - Episode 8: Folk- La leyenda de La Mancha by Mago De Oz
Bentornati al nostro appuntamento con gli smalti e con la musica: Dark Winter Songs!
Oggi parliamo del Folk e vi prego di permettermi una licenza... sì perchè non conoscendo benissimo il genere ho voluto orientarmi sul Folk Metal e su uno dei gruppi che mi piacciono di più: i Mago De Oz.
Questo gruppo spagnolo nato alla fine degli anni ottanta è caratterizzato dai ritmi allegri e dai ritornelli orecchiabili... l'album e la canzone che condivido oggi è ispirata al personaggio di Don Chisciotte e mi è piaciuto talmente da indurmi a leggere il libro che narra le sue gesta!

This Spanish group formed in the late eighties is characterized by cheerful rhythms and catchy choruses ... the album and the song that I share today is inspired by the character of Don Quixote and I liked so to induce me to read the book that tells his deeds!

Oggi parliamo di Heavy Metal! Attendevo con ansia questa puntata perchè questo è in assoluto il mio genere preferito!... Chissà come sarà stato facile scegliere la canzone per la nail art, penserete voi.... ecco, vi sbagliate di grosso. Anzi, direi proprio che ho avuto un vero e proprio blocco: troppa scelta!
Alla fine la mia decisione si è soffermata sulla suggestiva Feel The Fire degli Overkill, per due motivi: il primo è che questo è uno dei miei gruppi storici preferiti ed il secondo è che la copertina di questo album la trovo davvero suggestiva. Voi che ne pensate?

Today we talk about Heavy Metal! I waited anxiously this episode because this is my absolute favorite genre! ... You would think that it was easy to choose the song for nail art .... here, you are mistaken. Indeed, I would say that I had a real block: too much choice!
In the end my decision has focused on the suggestive song Feel The Fire by the Overkill, for two reasons: the first is that this is one of my favorite historical groups and the second is that I find the cover of this album very impressive. What do you think?

Dark Winter Songs - Episode 5: Glam - I Was Made For Lovin' You by The Kiss
Bentornati al nostro appuntamento con gli smalti e con la musica: Dark Winter Songs!
Oggi parliamo di un genere particolarmente pittoresco: il Glam! Ero molto indecisa nella mia scelta, ma alla fine ho deciso di orientarmi su un gruppo storico: i Kiss.
Osservando il loro trucco mi sono sempre chiesta con quale criterio siano stati scelti i vari personaggi... ricapitoliamoli: c'è il demone, il figlio delle stelle (un pò di perplessità, ma ok), l'uomo dello spazio (sarà il cugino del precedente? vabbè passiamolo) e.... il gatto. Il gatto?!... E soprattutto: perchè un gatto dovrebbe avere il contorno occhi verde?!... Vi prego ditemi che non sono l'unica che si arrovella dietro questi interrogativi!

Observing their makeup I always wondered with what criteria the various characters have been chosen ... let's recap: there is the demon, the son of stars, the man of the space.... and the cat. The cat?! WHY? ... And above all, why a cat should have green around the eyes?! ... Please tell me I'm not the only one that have these questions!

Oggi parliamo di musica elettronica; io non sono un'appassionata del genere, ma gironzolando per il web alla ricerca di un'ispirazione sono incappata in un pezzo a dir poco antico che all'epoca mi aveva colpito molto.
Era il 1997 e il gruppo musicale The Prodigy scriveva Breathe, un pezzo sincopato e a tratti inquietante che rappresenta un ottimo esempio del genere che trattiamo in questa puntata.

It was 1997 and the musical group The Prodigy wrote Breathe, a syncopated and sometimes disturbing song that represents an excellent example of the kind of music that we discuss in this episode.

La puntata di oggi è dedicata all'Hard Rock, genere musicale che ha creato le fondamenta dell' Heavy Metal.
Ammetto di aver avuto l'imbarazzo della scelta... alla fine la mia decisione è caduta su un gruppo che ha fatto storia: i Black Sabbath.
Welcome back to our appointment with nail polishes and with music: Dark Winter Songs!
Today's episode is dedicated to to the Hard Rock music a genre that created the foundation of the 'Heavy Metal. I admit I was very undecided ... in the end my decision fell on a group that has made history: Black Sabbath.
La canzone che voglio condividere è Children Of The Grave, dell'album Master Of Reality.
Il mio tributo le vedete nelle foto! E' ispirato alla copertina dell'album... e bisogna che ammetta che uno dei motivi per cui l'ho scelto è la sua semplicità. E' stata una settimana pienissima e il tempo da dedicare alla nail art era davvero un pò risicato. Spero di fare di meglio la prossima volta!
You can see my tribute nail art in the pictures! It 'inspired by the album cover ... and I have to admit that one of the reasons why I chose it is because of its simplicity. It 'been a very full week and the time to devote to nail art was really a bit tight. I hope to do better next time!

Dark Winter Songs - Episode 1: Rock - Paint It Black by Rolling Stones
Buonasera e benvenuti alla prima puntata del nostro appuntamento settimanale che ci accompagnerà per tutto l'inverno: Dark Winter Songs, organizzato grazie alla nostra cara Francine. Come si può evincere dal titolo tutte le settimane presenteremo uno smalto (scuro) ed una nail art (opzionale) ispirati ad una canzone. Cercheremo di spaziare attraverso tutti i generi, dall'Heavy Metal fino alla musica classica, passando per il Rock naturamente, che è appunto il protagonista del post di oggi.
